SAMPLE PICKUP & DROPOFF

We pick up samples in all parts of Washington state on a weekly basis, with more frequent pickups available west of the Cascades. We are located at 19834 Viking Ave NW, Ste A, Poulsbo, WA 98370, in the lower level parking area.

SAMPLE SELECTION

By definition, a representative sample is one that consists of material that is similar (in size, shape, and density of the overall quality) to the majority of the plant from which it was selected. WSLCB has a rule describing their sample selection protocol, which may be found on their site.

In short, the WSLCB requires that the person selecting the sample shall select 4 unique samples of not less than 1 gram each taken randomly from all 4 quarters of the lot. Those four selections will then become a single sample of not less than 4 grams.

Your sample selection protocol should be one that produces consistent and representative results. This can be difficult to accomplish. Sample selection is the single greatest contributor to variance in test results.

SAMPLE SIZE

How much product should you send in for testing?

  • We now require a minimum of five (5) grams of flower material for our I-502 panel.
  • Solvent-based concentrates or extracts, such as Ethanol or CO2, require a minimum of three (3) grams.
  • Food-grade solvent-based concentrates or extracts, such as RSO or FECO, require a minimum of four (4) grams.
  • Nonsolvent-based concentrates or extracts, such as kief or hash, require a minimum of four (4) grams.
  • Infused liquids and topicals require one (1) final unit (serving/dose), in such form as it is intended to be sold, marked with weight or volume.
  • Infused edibles require two (2) final units (servings/doses), in such form as it is intended to be sold, marked with weight or volume.

SAMPLE PACKAGING

Package each sample separately. Plastic bags work great for flower, kief, trim, and edibles. A container with a lid typically works best for waxy or sticky products, such as hash and concentrates, though syringes are preferred for extractions that are not too viscous. We prefer that you include the Inventory ID in both text and barcode form on the sample package. Since we use a scanner to check in samples, we ask that the barcode not be wrapped around the container, but rather placed so that it runs vertical along the side of the container (please see photos). We would also like to know the lot’s harvest date, should you have that information.

You do not have to put your product into quarantine!

When you create your QA samples, the Traceability software may indicate that the samples must be placed in quarantine for 24 hours. The WSLCB no longer requires QA samples to be quarantined.
